    Park Yang-woo returns to Gwangju Biennale Foundation as President once again “Everyone here is a part of Gwangju Biennale.     13th Gwangju Biennale postponed to April 1 The decision to shift the exhibition dates, now scheduled for April 1 to May 9, was made at the 173rd meeting of the Board of Trustees in order to “make the safety of our society our top priority” Due to the continued spread of COVID-19, the opening of the 13th Gwangju Biennale — scheduled for February 26 — will be postponed once more to April 1, 2021. The Gwangju Biennale Foundation announced today that the decision to postpone the 13th Gwangju Biennale — to a 39-day run from April 1 to May 9 — was made during an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the morning of February 1.     The Gwangju Biennale Foundation announces the postponement of the 13th Gwangju Biennale to 2021 As a result of the global struggle with COVID-19, Sunjung Kim, President of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation, has today announced that the 13th Gwangju Biennale, originally scheduled to take place from September 4 to November 29, 2020, has been postponed and will now be held from February 26 to May 9, 2021. With the postponement of the Biennale, a decision taken in close consultation with Artistic Directors Defne Ayas and Natasha Ginwala, the Foundation joins the global community in its efforts to overcome and recover from the COVID-19 outbreak. The decision prioritizes the safety of the artists and other participants, while also addressing concerns regarding the production of new site-specific commissions particular to the Gwangju Biennale, as well as issues surrounding the transportation of artworks and international travel.     13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020 exhibition period extended Exhibition set for September 4th - November 29, extended for 21 additional days from its previous 66 day run The exhibition period of the 13th Gwangju Biennale to be held in 2020 has been extended from 66 days to 87 days. The Gwangju Biennale Foundation stated, the “extension of the exhibition period for the 13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020” was deliberated and approved at the 164th board meeting. In response, the 13th Gwangju Biennale next year will be held from September 4 to November 29. Previous editions of the Biennale ran for 66 days from the first Friday of September to the first Sunday of November. The 13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020 will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the May 18th Democratic Uprising which is the foundation of the Biennale.     Preparations for the Pavilion Project of the 13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020 commence Talks with prestigious institutions in Taiwan, Netherlands, Belgium and others in progress The Gwangju Biennale Foundation begins preparations for the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion Project in 2020. On the morning of May 15 at the Polish Embassy located in Jongro-gu, Seoul, the Gwangju Biennale Foundation President Sunjung Kim signed a memorandum of understanding with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (AMI) Director Krzysztof Olendzki regarding Poland’s participation in the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion Project in 2020. Named after Poland’s renowned national poet, the AMI is a state cultural institution established under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage to promote Polish culture abroad. Through their partnership with the Gwangju Biennale, the AMI plans to introduce Polish art institutions and artists to Korea and to produce works and programs that will facilitate engagement with the citizens of Gwangju
